All about Annotating

 Annotations can be overwhelming: how do you know what is important, how much do you underline, why do we even annotate?

Annotations help you narrow down a text to the material you will use for a response - so reading the essay prompts that we give you at the beginning of each book unit is important. Keep in mind what essay prompt you will be responding to, it will help you notice the information you will use in your analysis (things like theme, setting, character development, plot points, allusions, and so on).
